Hi Bob......no reflection on your ability ....BUT.........by removing yourself from the office you probably deprived the younger staff members of the benefit of your knowledge and experience and access to your abilities and the demonstration of your skills ; basically they missed out on your mentoring and the exchange and interaction of ideas and methods
of someone of proven ability.

The work was uber-teky -- rewriting their APL based long range global market forecasting DB . But I did have one younger assistant , who had been at Bell Labs , to flesh things out . And a manager I reported to . But intense programming , like writing , is intrinsically solitary work . But I do think my lack of interaction with people has caused a deficit now that the crucial task is building a cash flowing language/user community .

From the spelling of labor I am assuming that THIS is an American analysis , where it is TRUE that American Employee productivity has RISEN , facilitated in large measure by the BUSINESS FRIENDLY TRUMP GOVERNMENT reforms and the removal of many impediments to business , rather than the location where the work is carried out .
In Australia the opinions of business leaders is that "working from home" has continued , if not accelerated , the DECLINE OF PRODUCTIVITY , the direct opposite of the American workforce , which now puts Australian employees as THE LEAST PRODUCTIVE IN THE DEVELOPED WORLD !
This decline has become entrenched , especially amongst the "paper shufflers" and the "civil service" who actually PRODUCE NOTHING except more paper to shuffle !
The actual productive people [ farmers , miners , tradesmen , fishermen , small business owners and the like ] are actually being retarded by ever increasing 'compliance' and 'over-regulation' and other interference by 'authorities' who , generally speaking , contribute NOTHING BENEFICIAL. to the wealth and productivity of Australia.
In face , it has gotten SO BAD that many of the SUCCESSFUL BUSINESSMEN have been "financially obliged" and virtually forced to RELOCATE THEIR ENTERPRISES OVERSEAS to more conducive
taxation regimes and more-productive-labour sources.
Recent moves "off shore" by Matt Cameron and Christopher Joye are examples of the reaction of these frustrated and thwarted businessmen because of adverse conditions becoming worse !
Sadly for Australia , MANY of Australia's largest employer Companies have indicated that FUTURE INVESTMENT in Australia will diminish OR be curtailed as there are SO MANY BETTER OPPORTUNITIES for their capital and for their talent and expertise elsewhere in the world !

So....yes.....HOUSE PRICES WILL FALL , probably , as the Australian living standards DECLINE
and less employment becomes available because companies have ceased investing and have RELOCATED overseas , wealth will NOT BE CREATED and it will decline and taxation will correspondingly decline , and Government borrowing will INCREASE to provide WELFARE and SERVICES ; but even that avenue will cease ONCE LENDERS REALISE THAT THERE IS LITTLE OR NO CHANCE that those loans will be repaid ......and , sadly , Australia will eventually have the recession that "the lazy country" deserves !
So , no Chelsea , the fact that "many employees report higher productivity at home" and that VICTORIA [ The State of DEBT , DOUBT , DEMANDS and DELUSION ! ] is going to legislatively enshrine WFH is certainly NO RECOMMENDATION for it or that the rest of Australia should adopt such a detrimental practise.
